Lovely multimedia sf story: “17776”

A few years ago, I nominated Jon Bois's unusual future-of-football story “Tebow in the CFL: A memoir” for a Hugo. Sadly, it didn't make the ballot. But now we have another chance, because Bois is at it again, with a piece of multimedia fiction (it could only be published online). I think it's titled “17776.”

The first chapter of this piece is a lovely and moving and sweet story that has very little to do with football, and that I think will be of interest to many science-fiction fans. The rest of it is more specifically focused on football, but still fun science fiction even for non-football fans like me.

The piece is mostly text, with images, and a lot of scrolling, and occasional videos.

I highly recommend chapter 1, and I've enjoyed the rest too. I'll likely nominate this for a Hugo next year, though I'm not sure what category to put it in. Probably Dramatic Presentation, Short Form.

Turns out the Tebow link I was using is to an earlier version of that story; here’s a link to the full final version.
