Spiral Hunt
In the Potlatch dealers' room, I was pleased to find Spiral Hunt, SH author Margaret Ronald's first novel, just published by Eos.
The book is about a woman in Boston who can track and find lost things and people. The publisher's blurb adds:
And though she knows to stay out of the magical undercurrent that runs beneath Boston's historic streets, a midnight phone call from a long-vanished lover will destroy the careful boundaries she has drawn.
Thought some of y'all Bostonites might be interested. (And some of y'all fantasy readers too, of course.)
I was also pleased to learn that HarperCollins has set up Browse Inside for the book; you can read the first 50+ pages for free online.
(This entry originally included HarperCollins's cute little Browse Inside widget, but as far as I can tell, all it actually does is link to their site, so I decided to keep things simple and just provide a plain text link.)
If you want to know more about the background of the book, Scalzi hosted a Big Idea posting last month in which Margaret talked about the book. If you want to see more of what she's written, you can check out her bibliography page--a fair number of her stories are available in free online venues, including three at SH.
