Cosmic beat
Have been reading up a bit on pulsars for a story I'm editing, and came across a page for the Princeton Pulsar Group that contains sound files—recordings of what it sounds like when you feed a pulsar's radio emissions through a speaker. The first one in their "Sounds" list gives the general idea: sounds like radio static with a click every .7 second. Kinda interesting. But the second one on the list (PSR 0833-45) is way cool: the click comes roughly eleven times a second, and it has a great beat. It sounds like a Gene Kelly tapdance routine. I want someone to write some music to go with it and turn it into a dance hit.
(The files are all in .au format; latest version of RealPlayer plugin (RealPlayer 8 Basic is the free version) should be able to play them.)
